RALP
Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority has received funding for restoration projects on agricultural land through the Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP).
Eligible projects include:
- Watercourse Buffers - along rivers and drains, with site-specific assessments; no setback minimum
- Windbreaks (1-5 rows), Shelterbelts (5+ rows) - reducing erosion, windspeed, snow drifts, fertilizer runoff, and increasing pollinator habitats
- Marginal Land Planting (A1-A7) - restoring low productivity, erosion-prone land back to forest (not swamp land)
To be eligible, farmers must have a Farm Business Registration Number (FBRN), and either have or be willing to obtain an Environmental Farm Plan. Projects must also take place on agricultural lands (i.e. not in an existing natural area).
Funding includes the costs of trees and shrubs, contractors, and project coordination.
Interested applicants are encouraged to schedule a site visit with us today!
**If your tree planting project is not eligible for this program, it may fit into another – reach out to our forestry department to discuss available opportunities.
