Saugeen Conservation is excited to announce the 2024 Saugeen Bluffs River Run event taking place May 24 - 26th, 2024 at Saugeen Bluffs Conservation Area.

Itinerary
Friday, May 24th, 2024
- 5pm - 7pm: Introduction to disc golf, (at group sites B & C).
- 7pm - 9pm: Glow in the Dark disc golf open.
Saturday, May 25th, 2024
- 9am - 11am: Guided paddle on the Saugeen River from access point 9a in Paisley to access point 11 at Saugeen Bluffs for beginners and recreational paddlers.
- 10:30am - 5pm: Ontario Marathon Canoe and Kayak Racing Association sanctioned Canoe and Kayak races.
- 5pm - 6:30pm: Dinner menu - Chicken or vegetarian lasagna, rice, baked potatoes, salads, bread, and desserts. Please email campinginfo@svca.on.ca to request either chicken or vegetarian lasagna.
- 7pm - 10pm: Live music by local artists performed at the lower pavilion.
Sunday, May 26th, 2024
- 9am - 12pm: Disc golf open (at group sites B & C).

Waiver

Fees
- Race fee: $20 per person, as an individual, or in a group.
- Dinner fee: $25 per person.
- E-transfer to payments@svca.on.ca - please include a description.
- Payment online through Square.

- In person at the gatehouse or store.
Rules
- Registration closes May 20th at 11:59pm online, but will remain open at the Saugeen Bluffs store.
- Each group and/or participant must fill out a registration form, and each individual must sign a waiver and pay their individual fee.
- The OMCKRA rules for boats in each class are here. Make sure you are entered into the correct class relating to the size of your canoe/kayak.
- Waivers must be signed in advance of the event.
- All participants must wear lifejackets.
- You must provide your own boat, whistle, bailer, 50 feet of rope, and personal flotation device.

Race Classes
19 Kilometres
The 19 Kilometre races are all downstream with no portages and no rapids. There are some swifts. These races will start at access point 8 on the Saugeen River and end at the Saugeen Bluffs Conservation area, access point 11. The Rec. Tandem canoe classes are open to any non racing canoe 17 feet long or less. Anyone wishing to use a stock C2 canoe is required to race in the Pro C2 class.
- Pro C2, Men’s – OMCKRA sanctioned canoe race (two males).
- Pro C2, Mixed – OMCKRA sanctioned canoe race (1 male and 1 female or 2 females).
- Fast Kayak, Open – OMCKRA sanctioned kayak race (1 person, any gender).
- Rec Tandem, Men’s – OMCKRA sanctioned canoe race (two males).
- Rec Tandem, Mixed – OMCKRA sanctioned canoe race (1 male and 1 female or 2 females).
- Long Rec Kayak, Open – OMCKRA sanctioned race (1 person, any gender).
- Short Rec Kayak, Open – OMCKRA sanctioned race. (1 person any gender).
- North Canoe, Open – OMCKRA sanctioned race. (6 to 8 paddlers any gender).
Start times are as follows:
- 10:30am – Fast Kayak Open, Long Rec. Kayak Open, Short Rec. Kayak Open
- 10:45am – Pro C2 Men’s, Pro C2 mixed, Rec. Tandem Men’s, Rec. Tandem Mixed
- 11:00am – North Canoe Open
8.5 Kilometres
The 8.5 Kilometer races are all downstream with no portages, no rapids. There are a couple swifts. These races will start at access point 9a at the Rotary Park in Paisley and end at the Saugeen Bluffs Conservation area, access point 11. The Open Rec. Kayak, Open Rec. Canoe, and Open Family Canoe races are open to all recreational canoes and kayaks.
- Open Rec. Kayak- For recreational kayakers who are looking to try something new and fun! This is an Open class for all ages, genders and skill levels including beginners.
- Open Rec. Canoe – For recreational Canoeists who are looking to try something new and fun. This is an open class for all ages, genders and skill levels including beginners. Limit of 2 people per canoe.
- Open Family Canoe – For families that love to paddle. This is an open class for all ages and genders. 2 to 4 paddlers per canoe. With prizes for youngest and oldest paddlers.
