August 7, 2025 - SVCA to Host Mapping Meeting in Huron-Kinloss
Saugeen Conservation to Host Public Information Meeting on Updated Regulated Area Mapping in Huron-Kinloss
TOWNSHIP OF HURON-KINLOSS –
Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA) will host a Public Information Meeting to present proposed updates to its Regulated Area mapping for portions of the Township of Huron-Kinloss. The meeting, required under Ontario Regulation 41/24, invites residents, cottagers, and stakeholders to view draft maps, ask questions, and better understand how the changes may affect their properties.
- Date: Friday, October 3, 2025
- Location: Point Clark Community Centre, 344 Lake Range Drive, Point Clark
- Doors Open: 6:00 p.m.
- Presentation: 6:15 p.m.
- Question and Answer Period: Following the presentation
- Discussion with SVCA Staff: Available after the question and answer period
- Event Ends: 8:00 p.m.
SVCA acknowledges the extended timeline in reaching this stage of public engagement and thanks the community for its patience. Much of the delay has been due to sequencing requirements and timelines established by the Province of Ontario for conservation authorities undertaking mapping updates under O. Reg. 41/24.
SVCA has completed updated flood hazard mapping supported by LiDAR topographic data. These updates allow SVCA to transition from broad Screening Area mapping to more accurate Regulated Area mapping, which more precisely identifies where SVCA review and permitting are required before development may proceed. In many cases, the Regulated Area is smaller and better reflects actual site conditions.
“This update is about improving clarity for landowners, developers, and municipal partners.
It ensures everyone has a clearer understanding of where SVCA review applies and why.”
- Matt Armstrong, Manager of Environmental Planning and Regulations, SVCA
At the meeting, SVCA staff will explain how the updated mapping differs from previous versions, present the draft maps, and answer questions from attendees. Staff will also assist landowners in determining how the changes may impact their individual properties.
The draft mapping will be made available on SVCA’s website at least 30 days before it is formally considered by the SVCA Board of Directors at the November Authority meeting.
SVCA encourages all interested landowners, residents, and stakeholders in Huron-Kinloss to attend.
