SVCA to Hold Office Hours in Huron-Kinloss

TOWNSHIP OF HURON-KINLOSS –

Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA) is collaborating with the Township of Huron-Kinloss to provide residents with local access to SVCA staff as a pilot project. On Thursday, August 28, 2025, SVCA staff will be available at the Township of Huron-Kinloss Administrative Office, 21 Queen Street, Ripley, ON to answer questions and provide guidance.

SVCA regulates development and alterations, including new buildings, site grading, or any changes near watercourses, wetlands, floodplains, shorelines, steep slopes, or erosion-prone lands, that fall under hazardous lands and environmental protection mandates. Residents can learn if their property is within SVCA’s regulated or screening area using the online mapping tool.  For Planning Act applications like severances or zoning by-law amendments, SVCA acts as a Review Agency, providing comments related to natural hazards, while final decisions rest with the municipality.

These office hours are intended for individuals who own property within SVCA’s regulated area in the Township of Huron-Kinloss. Staff will be available to:

• Provide information about SVCA’s Planning and Regulation policies as they apply to proposed development activities or projects near watercourses and wetlands; and
• Assist with questions about SVCA’s permit application process.

Although residents are always welcome to visit SVCA’s Formosa office, this dedicated session will make staff more accessible locally.

• Hours: 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
