Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority COVID-19 Guidelines for our Properties

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued patience and understanding. With your help and cooperation, we are hoping that our park services can continue to expand in conjunction with provincial standards.

As part of our ongoing commitment to keep our community aware of our services, campgrounds, events, and programs, please be aware of the following:

We are encouraging due diligence for all our outdoor areas, including social distancing, and remaining at home if you are feeling ill in any way. Please make sure to always wear your mask.

Please see the following information specific to our properties.

 Saugeen Conservation administrative services
  • The Administrative office is open to the public by appointment only. Prior to your visit, you will need to fill out our Visitor COVID-19 Screening form.
  • Please be advised that our essential services are operating as normal. Staff are still working their normal work hours, either from home, the office, or our various parks.
  • The public and/or our regular stakeholders are welcome to call us (519) 364-1255 or email us at publicinfo@svca.on.ca for normal work issues. Staff cell phone numbers can be found on our contact page.
  • All non-essential meetings have been cancelled, as well as events, workshops, etc.
  • Staff working out of the administration office will continue to practice social distancing and maintain enhanced cleaning and sanitizing procedures. In addition, we are taking extra precautions to keep our offices and work surfaces clean.
  • Staff will continue to respond to inquiries, however, some delays in response time may be experienced.

Conservation education

  • Conservation Education programs have been changed with COVID-19 measures in mind for safety purposes.
  • Some programs have had to be cancelled and/or rescheduled to a later date.

Day-use areas
  • Follow posted instructions.
  • Wear a mask.
  • Trails (where available) are open for passive recreational use.
  • SVCA encourages 2 metre social distancing from outside of a family unit.
  • Comply with gathering limits.
  • The washroom (at Sulphur Spring) is available for use. We have increased our cleaning schedule and frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected in accordance with public health guidelines.
  • Playgrounds (where available) are available.
  • Boat ramps (where available) are open.
  • Pavilions (where available) are open.
  • Mildmay/Carrick is currently closed.
Campgrounds
  • Please follow in-park instructions.
  • Washroom facilities are available for use. We have increased our cleaning schedule and frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected in accordance with public health guidelines.
  • Washroom use is limited to ensure visitors always stay six feet apart.
  • Cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer are available inside and outside (where available) washrooms to use prior to and after using the facilities.
  • SVCA encourages 2 metre social distancing from outside of a family unit. Please make sure to always wear your mask.
  • Showers are open.
  • Playgrounds are open.
  • The pavilions and activity centres (where available) are open.
  • Outdoor events with a limit of 100 people are allowed.
  • Wipes are available at the dump station. Please bring your own gloves.
  • To maintain visitor and staff safety, equipment rentals are presently not available.
  • Trails (where available) are open for passive recreation.
  • Wading pools, splash pads (where available) are open.
  • Canoe access points (where available) are open.
  • Stores (where available) are open. Please respect physical distancing.
  • Laundromats (where available) are open. Please respect social distancing rules. Please make sure to always wear your mask.

Public health measures

Safety of our visitors and staff is always our top priority. We will be implementing measures to address overcrowding and promote physical distancing in our open spaces and buildings. This will limit occupancy for day-use and camping in select parks during busy visitation times.
